Kyoto City University of Arts (KCUA)’s Graduate School of Arts’ student exchange programme was founded in 1989, signing the agreement with the Royal College of Art to exchange two students every year.
As the results of the continuous exchange of two students each year, the programme became recognised as valuable learning opportunities since its outcomes had been making a positive impact throughout the university. Consequently in 1996, the agreement was amended by mutual consent to allow three students to be exchanged each year.
Since then the exchange programme itself has been developing continuously, and the Graduate School of Arts and Faculty of Fine Art of KCUA now have eleven exchange partner institutions in nine countries from Europe, North America and Asia as of 2020.
