Kyoto City University of Arts will hold an international exchange summer school for foreigners who have interests in Japanese culture and Art as an initiative based on the “Kyoto City University of Arts Internationalization Policy 2020” with the theme of “BON ODORI”, a traditional culture associated with Kyoto.

Participants will be exposed to Kyoto City University of Arts’ art education through workshops and lectures across the university’s Faculty of Arts and Faculty of Music, and will wear yukata and participate in the “BON ODORI festival” held at Nishi Honganji Temple.

【Outline of the event】

Date and Time:1st August (Thu) 9’45am~8pm

Venue: Kyoto City University of Arts, Seminar room in the Research Institute for Japanese Traditional Music, (Ground floor of Building A)

   (57-1, Shimono-cho, Shimogyo-ku, Kyoto)

Participation fee: Free

11’~12’ Lecture “Transition of BON ODORI” by Shuhei HOSOKAWA, The director of Research Institute for Japanese Traditional Music

12~13’30  Lunch break
13’30~15’ Uchiwa making workshop by Tomoyuki YASUI, Professor of the faculty of Art, KCUA (※Uchiwa is a traditional Japanese fan made by paper and bamboo)
15’ Try on ‘Yukata’ workshop
17’00~ Dance lecture at Nishihonganji and participate the BON ODORI festival at Nishihonganji
