In 1980, Kyoto City University of Arts relocated the Faculty of Fine Arts and the Faculty of Music, which had been located in different places, to the present location of Kutsukake-cho, Oe, Nishikyo-ku, to unite the Faculty of Arts and the Faculty of Music in one campus, and has been engaged in education and research activities with the understanding and cooperation of local community.

However, more than 40 years have passed since the relocation, and various issues have emerged, including ageing and narrowing facilities and equipment, building earthquake resistance, and barrier-free accessibility.

To resolve these issues, we will move to the new location in the east side of Kyoto Station in 2023.
